Hi

Recently picked up a Ray and whilst it works on Spotify etc via the app, the sonos app says there is not connection between tv and speakers.

Tried the light down wire and it works. Removed plastic caps etc.

Only thing I can think of is if the port on the sonos is broken? Pic attached.

Any help would be great! Thanks in advance

Optical cables are notorious for not being seated firmly enough when connecting. They need to be pushed in hard at each end until they click. Has your cable clicked at each end?

Are you sure you’ve set the tv to “external speakers” or however they’re designated by your tv manufacturer? And selected the output signal to be sent to the optical port rather than HDMI?

Thanks for the reply. Yep, tried that! Set to 'Optical Audio Output'.

Thanjs for the reply. Think its in as far as it could go. Any harder and I think id break it. It makes a subtle clicking sound.

Both ends? (although if there is a red light, it’s clearly in one end!)

The error in question

Yep both ends clicky. Red light coming from tv to sonos. No red light other way round though, not sure if it's meant to?

Yes, it should be red no matter which end is connected. So potentially the cable isn’t seated in the Ray correctly despite it feeling so. Or the Ray’s connector isn’t working… Maybe just try taking the cable out, swap it over and seat both ends again.

Thats good to know. Yes, definitely in as far as it can go. No red light from the Ray. I'm assuming the initial photo attached with the plastic covering the hole is a dust protector that moves when wire inserted?

Tried a new wire and it now works! Looks like the one that came with the system was faulty.

Thanks to all
