I have a setup with a chromecast for casting, a Philips TV (Will find model number if necessay) and a Sonos Beam (gen 1) to use for the TV. As mentioned in the title, 4/5 times the beam just won’t play any sound, and we have to turn the TV off and on again, reconnect to the chromecast and start streaming again, hoping it will work. There are no correlation between the times it works and not, and we do manually set the beam to the TV input every time before turning it on.

The HDMI is connected the the ARC-output, we have tested all the settings for autodetection on the TV (Philips Easylink automatic and manual, and TV speakers on/off) without luck. All the software on both the TV, chromecast and sonos are up to date.

Has anyone encountered the same or similar issues, and know a fix for this? I suspect it might be something with the chromecast, but haven’t found any settings to try out here.. It is very frustrating having to use up to 10 minutes just to get the audio to work, and we often end up unplugging it and just using the TV speakers..

Can you try turning the TV on first before the source and ensure that you audio playing on the Beam before starting the Chromecast.

Thank you for answering! The chromecast is the only input-source we use, so it’s not possible to tell whether it works or not before connecting it. It is also always on and connected behind the TV, so it’s not a durable solution if it was to work. The audio works perfectly when streaming from other sound sources set up in the Sonos app.

The main reason for asking is to find out if someone else has had similar problems with either a Chromecast (gen 1) or the TV, or just some suggestions we haven’t tested yet. It feels like we’ve tried everything there is, and we don’t want to replace something that doesn’t need replacing either.😊
