Hello. I am building my home theater system.

Right now, I connect my pc to Sound Blaster GC7 through usb and connect GC7 to Sonos Beam Gen 2 through the Optical to HDMI converter comes with the beam.

I set the Sound Blaster GC7 output to 7.1 surround, not virtual 7.1.

Why in my app, the audio in still show Stereo PCM 2.0?

Thank you

Optical ports do not support uncompressed multichannel 7.1 LPCM - that’s undoubtedly why you’re getting stereo only - you would need to send that audio codec over an HDMI-eARC connection.

The best output you can hope for over the optical link will be compressed Dolby Digital 5.1/or DTS 5.1 audio.

How to enable Dolby Digital 5.1/or DTS 5.1 audio?

Thanks

I don’t know much about the SoundBlaster GC7, personally speaking, but I did come across these links which perhaps may assist…

Thank you
