Good day team, I would appreciate your help today. I did the Quick Tune (Iphone ). The Height effects are there with Atmos only of course. Settings: Height +7, Treble +2, Bass -6, Loudness on. Speech Enhancement Low. However I do notice the voices are too low and the explosions or action scenes are too high and I keep changing volumes. I usually use it between 18-28 tops for Atmos. For regular 2.0 or 5.1 I have to increase to 50-60. I have notices the Arc does not Upmix the sound like me former JBL 9.1 did.

The Ultra offers multiple levels of speech enhancement, try a higher one.

Yes thank you, from my understanding increasing the Speech Enhancement affects the dynamic range/power.

Don't have an Ultra but on my Arc the speech setting only seems to alter the center channel no noticeable change in the others.

There are 4 settings for Ultra regarding speech enhancement, Off-Low-Medium-High.

Before I connected the Era300 as a surround I had it on medium which worked really well for me.
After installing the Era300 I didn't think the sound was quite optimal and turned it off, it changed the sound noticeably and in my ears the sound was spread much more out into the room.

It's a completely different sound experience.

What exactly Ultra does when you deactivate speech enhancement I don't know, but it seems the less speech enhancement the greater the sound dispersion.

Interesting, thanks

Yes correct! Thank you! Exactly what happened to me with Speech Enhancement. What are your settings? I use the Ultra by itself fyi. For 2.0 Or 5.1 I does not sound like it upmixes the audio like my former JBL 9.1.

I only tried to have Ultra installed alone for a very short time. Then with my Sub and finally: Ultra-Sub-2xEra300.

The placement of your Ultra must be correct (It must be free from the TV and have the possibility for all its speakers to shoot the sound out to all sides including up towards the ceiling)

As I remember with only Ultra my settings were:
Trueplay: On (only did the quick one)
Equalizer: Bass +5-6. Treble 0. Loudness on.
Height level: +6-7
Speech enhancement: Medium

With Sub: Pretty much the same and Sub on 0.
(However, much better sound)

With Sub and Era300. I continued to test since there are a lot of options, but have Speech enhancement turned off and Trueplay since it can't figure out the distance to my Era300.
(A completely fantastic experience)

Ultra is a fantastic soundbar but in my opinion only a soundbar, it can only do so much. Again in my opinion it is only part of the full experience that you can get. It is designed to be used with a Sub and surround speakers. After installing my Era300 I was sold, you will experience you are in the front row of the movie and sounds come from all sides and height.

Having said all this, the most important thing is that it is connected correctly to your TV and that the TV is set up correctly to deliver the desired sound. Atmos, 2.0-5.1, etc.
