Which ‘remote’ & TV is it (make/model) and which soundbar? What type of connection is in use between the TV and soundbar?

I get to the step were you have press the volume buton 3 times

I still need more info about the Toshiba smart TV - make/model, or better still, a link to its online user manual? That said, it’s possibly a case that the ‘remote’ is not infrared capable and so may not be able to control the volume of the PlayBar, but have you tried the TV remote setup as outlined in this link:

If the TV remote is not detected correctly, then see the things mentioned in this support link…

edit: our posts crossed, but the above links may still perhaps help.

I’ll go look and try to find the TV user manual. Meanwhile, do you have any ‘other’ devices (A/V products) connected to the TV that perhaps use an infrared remote, as you can use any IR remote instead?

User manual is here …

I’m just glancing through it now.

No other devices. Perhaps i should reset it again...

The ‘remote’ is Bluetooth paired to the TV - no sign of infrared Tx on the ‘remote’ and no mention of infrared in the user manual. So it appears you are out of luck with that ‘remote’ as far as I can see. If you have any other ‘remote’, preferably one that’s linked to a device connected to the TV, then you could try that instead. Or contact Toshiba support to see if there’s a way around the issue.

If no joy, then there are mini-remote devices like this that will likely solve the issue…

It all went well, until the remote set up. I use my phone to turn up the sound..

Yes, sometimes a TV might not have an infrared remote - if you speak with Toshiba Customer services they ‘perhaps’ might have a workaround option to use an infrared ‘remote’ with the TV, but you may lose some functionality. Occasionally some TV’s use non-infrared ‘remotes’ and CEC volume control, like you see with the newer Sonos soundbars, Arc, Beam etc.

The little remote I linked to earlier, is one way around your issue, or as you mention you can use the Sonos App, on your phone, or tablet, but that can become a bit of a nuisance, I suspect.

Strange. You state “its the one whitout hdmi” but the manual mentions HDMI 37 times?

The on you linked to, only controles the volum. Is it possible to get one were it also is possible to change the channels?
