why cant the overpriced sub pair up with arc?

It needs two same-model speakers to create a stereo pair - and the Arc and Sub are excluded from that.
You can bond a Sub to an Arc unless, for some reason, your systems is failing to do so. Maybe, if this is what you’re trying to do, the “overpriced sub” is sulking because you’re calling it names?
Do you get any error messages?
You certainly need to make sure the WiFi hasn’t been turned off on the Arc.
I only paid regular price for my Sub so it may not be the same as yours but it Bonded to my Arc with no issues.
