Hi, I’ve set up a surround system with a Playbase and 2x Play:1s. I’ve previously run the surround system with Ones instead (no issues) but decided to shift speakers around. All speakers work fine when not grouped, but in surround group the rear speakers don’t work. Neither with tv sound or when streaming from Spotify. I am also unable to complete true play tuning. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

When you say “group” can you just confirm you’ve used the Add Surrounds feature, just to check on terminology?

Do they play anything if you stream a music source?

If it’s been a while since the One’s were in use as surrounds, your tv may have had a pushed update that reset the sound out settings, so that’s worth a check. Then of course be sure the tv is sending a 5.1 signal. The app will show what signal the Playbase is receiving.

Thanks for the suggestions! And sorry for the confusing terminology. Yes they are added successfully as surrounds.

They don’t play anything if streaming music either. If I remove the surrounds and use them as separate speakers, they play just fine.

Have reconfigured TV to send out sound through the speaker. Playbase connected via optical, and app shows “SPDIF” with Dolby Digital Surround 5.1. Playbase is playing fine, it is just the two rear surrounds that are silent. Any ideas?

For them to be silent streaming music is a puzzle. Is that an Amazon or similar source, not a tv music channel? There may not be a signal for surrounds on a tv music source.
Assume you’ve not turned off wifi? It needs to be on for Playbase and the Play:1’s.
Power off all speakers and then restart, Playbase first?
Otherwise, possibly the wifi card in the Playbase has failed - they are a weakness in the Playbase.   Generate a diagnostics report and contact Sonos support.

Yes streaming from Spotify (tv turned off) and they’re still silent. All connected to WiFi - since WiFi streaming works on the Playbase, I would assume the WiFi card works? Restart did not solve either. Will test with the Ones tomorrow and see if they still work and then get in touch with support. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions!

With regard to music playback, have you set Music Playback to ‘Full’ in the Sonos App>&cog gear]>&Your Home Theatre]>Surround Audio>Music Playback?

got my answer thanks i was having same issue

….and one other thing to check is Sonos App>gcog gear]>gYour Home Theatre]>Surround Audio make sure that the Surrounds are Enabled just to be sure.
