85” TV screen bottom is wall mounted 28” above floor. Top of TV is 71” above floor. In seats located ~16’ from TV & soundbar, our eyes and ears are ~38” above the floor. Per Sonos, top of new Arc Ultra must be mounted at least 4” below TV screen. If mounted below TV, the TOP of the Arc Ultra would be only 2’ (24”) above the floor. That would mean the center of the Utra’s forward firing speakers would ~16” or more below our ears. Ceiling height is 12’.

Please provide advice with supporting logic/information that will help me decide whether I should mount the new Arc Ultra above or below my TV.

Try it both places, make sure to text ATMOS, and go with which sounds best.

Test, not text, small tablet, fat fingers and weak eyes... Old.

I think the internet believes that mounting above the display is NOT feasible.

My setup with the Arc results in about two inches of separation below my display. Atmos effects are still great! Tilting the display forward may help? My Ace is 36” off the floor.

Not sure why it didn't show, I find the Sonos mounting suggestions useful but I'm not unhappy with my sound with several "improperly" positioned speakers. They might sound better in the suggested positions but that isn't an option here.

Trust your ears.

The only issue I have in seeing @Stanley_4 ‘s original post is the incorrect spelling of the word test, which I suspect was autocorrected to ‘text’.

Typing on my tablet and having issues, thought I'd fixed the original too but it looks not to have taken.

I'd really like to hear back on the mounting high/low results. Mine are at ear level when seated but with my high ceilings high might give better height sound in ATMOS. If my shoulder was working right I'd try the high option here just to see.

As a life long audiophile, unless the speakers are designed for it, down firing audio is usually poor sounding. The first bounce of sound will be off the ceiling.  Confusing to the ear.

That said, the best advice here is to try it, Your ears will give you the correct answer.

Enjoy,
