You need a 3.5mm to s/pdif optical adapter, if such a thing exists. Or get an HDMI switch with an optical output (assuming you feed the monitor an HDMI signal). Or get an HDFury (the most expensive option).
The Beam is designed for a proper TV, with HDMI-ARC or optical support.

No. The description says it is not an analog to digital converter, which is what you need.
Have you managed to figure this out yet? I’m in a similar situation and super bummed that I can’t get the Beam 2 to work with my monitor.
What is sending the video to the monitor? Is there an optical or hdmi output available at the source hardware?
To reiterate, the Beam accepts a digital signal via ARC. That requires, in most cases, two transformations from a normal analog signal. The first from analog to digital, the second from digital to ARC.
Sonos sells an adapter for the latter transformation (digital optical to ARC), but you’d need to provide that adapter with the necessary digital optical signal, in the correct format (Dolby Digital or stereo).
