connecting ray to amp

I recently added a ray to my living room Tv. I already four speakers wired to a sonos amp in this room. I am trying to add the existing speakers to the ray to create surround. The online setup runs as it should but the connection fails every time and erases the amp from my system. The result is I have to restart the amp and I don’t get the surround sound desired.

Am I missing something?  I can pair the speakers, but since they aren’t truly setup as surround they just echo, it isn’t the desired outcome. Please help.

This worked, I needed the ray connected by Ethernet as well. Thank you so much.

Is it an Amp, or the older Connect:Amp?  If the latter, you need to connect it by Ethernet, either to the router or to the Ray.
