My main remote controller (the Google one from Chromecast with Google TV) is suddenly skipping volume levels.

My setup:

Hisense TV + Beam Gen 2 + IKEA Symfonisk as rear speakers. Beam connected via HDMI ARC and with CEC enabled everywhere.

Since December I have an issue, where my Chromecast remote controller is skipping volume levels. It’s almost always my main ones that it skips (around level 12). It usually goes by 2 levels per button press (that’s normal), but sometimes it skips by 4-8 for no reason. Why is it so? Other means of volume settings work fine (hardware buttons on Symfonisks or Beam, app control, even the TV controller is fine).

 

I tried disabling the remote controller in Chromecast, but it didn’t worked. Can’t add it via app, since it is not IR controller - works automatically via CEC. What else should I consider?

Check with Hisense? The Sonos is receiving its commands for volume via CEC from the TV set, it’s not in ‘control’ of the volume. 

Why Hisense? The Hisense TV controller (IR to TV) is correctly changing the volume of Sonos.

As I said, the Sonos is receiving commands via CEC from the Hisense TV, not the remote itself. If Sonos is receiving commands that change more than a single ‘stop’, then it’s reacting to what it receives. Which suggests either the Hisense, or the Chromecast. Hisense would have a better knowledge as to how they work with receiving commands from Chromecast. Sonos is merely the last device in the process. 

Found another solution. Setting the volume controls to work via IR straight into Sonos, basically circumventing Chromecast or the TV.

 

Didn't knew Chromecast controller can work in IR mode, but yes, I guess it can, otherwise it would work when placing something in front of controller.
