Hi there, I’ve got a Sonos arc, sub, amp and 6 ceiling speakers as my Sonos set up. 


The arc and sub are connected via hdmi to my tv. 
 

The 6 Sonos ceiling speakers are connected in the same wifi network.

 

When I play music via Amazon music or spotify I can get the music to play from the tv (arc and sub) and through the ceiling speakers that I group as kitchen. 
 

What I can’t seem to work out is how I get the sound from them all when I’m watching the tv. When I watch tv it only comes through the arc and sub and nothing through the ceiling speakers.

 

Is there a connection that I should be making when playing sound through my tv to get it through the ceiling speakers as well?

In general it‘s possible to group rooms in music mode and also in tv mode. 
In tv mode you have to be aware of the fact that there’s a minimal delay between the home theater setup room and the grouped rooms. But that can be equalized by using the tv dialogue sync option if necessary. 
But back to topic…

As many users don’t like to hear tv mode sound on grouped rooms, there is an option available in ht devices settings to ungroup rooms of an already existing group automatically when tv mode autostart or manually start of tv source playback is used. 
So you can turn of that option or start grouping rooms after tv mode playback started.

 

Alternately, you could set up the extra speakers (assuming they’re powered by a single Sonos Amp), as surround speakers. They’d play the surround channels then, but not the center/voice channel. Not sure what you’re trying to achieve here, unfortunately.
