Cannot get beam 2 to connect to 2 play ones for surround sound

What error message do you see?
If the Play:1s are in a stereo pair, you need to remove them as a stereo pair before you can add as surrounds.
This problem is sometimes causes by one or more speakers not being fully updated. Check for updates.
