I have Sonos Arc with LG C1 and Apple TV 4K. I’m using Apple TV remote to control volume, power and smart functions.
When I turn on TV it is starting TV, Apple TV and automatically selects HDMI with Apple TV. At the beginning there is no sound (Arc is not turned on yet??) and after 10 or 20 seconds screen turns off, green lights shows on Arc and after a moment everything is turned on and sound is coming from Arc.
Is it normal? It looks like Arc has some delay when powering on and TV is doing some format switching?
Can I fix it somehow? It is not a deal breakers but slightly annoying.
Its normal, its like using a laptop that was connected to projector, switching from different displays takes time, specially if multiple peripherals are connected.
In this case, input is the same - Apple TV. It just like Sonos Arc is starting with a delay and this cause black screen.

yes exactly
Hi
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
It sounds like your TV and ATV might be negotiating Dolby Vision shortly after power-on.
You can verify if this is the case by disabling the option in the Apple TV’s settings: on Apple TV go to: Settings » Video and Audio » Format » Select a desired resolution that is not labelled as 'Dolby Vision'. Turn your TV off and on again.
If it turns out to not be Dolby Vision causing this, however, it may help to unplug the TV from power for at least 2 minutes.
I hope this helps.
It looks like it is quite common problem for Apple TV with Sonos Arc: https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/rudk8a/arc_lg_tv/
It is somehow strange because in Apple TV output is fixed to Dolby VIsion, so there is no HDMI sync or anything like that.
Is it possible that TV power cycling HDMI connection just to adjust sound settings for Dolby Atmos (not vision)?
Hi
Apologies for the delay - I’ve been on holiday.
The fact that the screen goes black for a moment suggests to me that this has more to do with either the source device or the TV, rather than with your Sonos Arc, hence my earlier statement.
I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports - reproducing the issue and immediately submitting a support diagnostic before getting in touch will be beneficial. The diagnostics will contain information about what has been negotiated via HDMI-CEC and may give you some indication as to which device is responsible,
I hope this helps.
Hello,
I had the same issue on my LG TV, here’s how I fixed it!
TV - Digital sound out > Auto (had it set to pass through) also make sure AppleTV is set to sound output > Auto (instead of selling 5.1 Dolby or Stereo.)
After applying these settings, I have tested all different content such at Atmos, 5.1 Atmos, PCM and so on all working fine!
Hope this helps
