There is a weird behavior between my devices.

I have a LG OLED65CXAUA tv and a PS5.  They have worked great together for a while.  In the last year I added a Sonos Beam to the tv - it works great for the TV and the PS5, the sound is wonderful. But weirdly, since I added the Sonos Beam, the PS5 will randomly wake up from sleep mode and the TV switches from whatever I was watching to the PS5.  I can switch it back but it is annoying.

To be clear on the set up: the Beam and the PS5 are both plugged into the TV.

Any clue on how to stop this?

There is a ‘feature’ of HDMI connections called “CEC” (Consumer Electronics Control). The goal is to automatically power up and select devices so that, for example, the operator can simply drop a disc into a player and the player will communicate with all devices, power-up, select inputs, and play the disc on the TV and any appropriate audio devices.

As you have discovered, there is opportunity for mischief. One of my favorites is the middle of the night cable box update. As a convenience, the cable box will turn ON after the update is completed. CEC interprets this as a request to watch TV and passes this to the system … . Evidently your PS5 is on a similar adventure. A CEC blocker will prevent the PS5 from announcing its event to the system. The only down side is that you will need to manually select the PS5.

Thanks, I will try this out.
