There are two different settings. Volume can be 0 without a speaker being “muted”. And a speaker can be muted at any volume level. Mute is an on/off toggle.
There is currently another thread where an Arc is being muted when he turns off his tv. Is this the time yours toggles to mute? Does the volume change too? If so it might be to do with that “power down” commend from the tv.
Thank you for the quick replies.
The TV is on. I mute the Beam (Gen 1 but says S2) by touching the button on the top of the Beam. Beam then mutes and the Beam light goes green. Before the factory reset, if I was sitting down and decided I wanted to listen to the Beam rather than via (non-Sonos) headphones, then if I hit the Vol + button on my Humax remote, the Beam would automatically unmute. Now it does not.
No relationship with TV being turned on or off.
Hi @Countryman69
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with your TV remote not bringing your Beam out of mute.
I’d first recommend that you ensure your TV’s HDMI-CEC setting is turned on - this allows commands such as volume control to pass from the TV to the Beam.
Please also reboot your TV by unplugging it from power for at least a minute.
If those steps do not resolve the issue for you, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.
I hope this helps.
