How is it connected to the Beam?

In the TV settings have you selected the Beam as the active speaker?

I’ve narrowed the problem down to my Sony Bravia will play my cable tv fine through the beam but when I stream via WiFi it won’t.  It doesn’t switch to the tv speakers interestingly enough.  

Try this:

Disconnect everything from the TV and unplug the Beam and TV from power for a couple of minutes. Plug everything back in but keep everything disconnected. Make sure Bravia Sync is enabled in the TV settings. Run TV Setup in the Sonos app and follow the app instructions. When the app instructs you, connect the Beam to the TV’s HDMI ARC port using the Sonos-supplied HDMI cable. After the Beam has been successfully connected, connect any other devices to the TV.

Thanks for your suggestions.  Unfortunately it still will not play the streaming shows but does play the cable programs.  

Guitar Superstar, thank you, this worked perfect for me, after many attempts to register beam on app! Somewhere when setting up I went wrong and many attempts to correct wouldn't work for me. Now all up and running.

Given that @GuitarSuperstar’s excellent advice did not help, it’s possible that your built-in TV sources are trying to play a format not supported by the Beam, but your cable TV box is not (and therefore does play).

I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports about the situation. I recommend a phone call in the first instance to help speed the process.
