Just purchased a new Beam Gen 2 and a pair of one SL speakers.  For TV I use a TCL 65r646 which supports eArc.

i have Sonos connected to tv via earc using supplied hdmi 2.1 cable and an Xbox one S connected to the TVs high speed hdmi port also via hdmi 2.1 cable.  I have tried what seems like every setting combination possible between the tv and Xbox, gone through the Dolby app setup on Xbox yet still the Sonos app does not show atmos while playing content I know it atmos enabled.

any help is appreciated.

It seems the rtings website had Atmos audio issues with this TV and mentioned this in their review:

"This TV supports eARC, allowing you to pass DTS:X and Dolby Atmos audio formats to a compatible receiver using a single HDMI connection. During our testing, our receiver wasn't properly playing the Dolby Atmos audio file, but the Dolby Atmos logo popped up on the TV. This is likely an issue on our end, and we expect it to work for most people. Since TCL advertises the Dolby Atmos support, we list it as 'Yes', but if you experience the same issue, let us know."

Here is the review…

I would perhaps see if there are any TV firmware/software updates to begin with.

What specific content are you testing? From what app? What audio format does the Sonos app show you are getting?

I have tested from a few apps.  The native Dolby app on Xbox results in the tv showing the atmos logo, but the Sonos app showing Dolby 5.1.  I’ve also tried the Apple TV app, Disney plus and Amazon video all from Xbox one S and all with the same result.

Can you post photos of your current audio settings on the TV and Xbox?

Thanks for any help!

What other options do you have under Digital Audio Out on the TV?

FYI I have tried with this set as pass through also with the same results.  Actually it gets a little worse because the Sonos then reads that it’s only getting a 2.0 stereo signal sent to it

If you change the setting to Pass Through and you use the TV’s native apps, do you experience the same results?

Is eARC enabled in your TV settings?

Similar..so testing with the Apple TV app playing Ted lasso, both Dolby vision and atmos logo showed on the tv when episode started, but Sonos app continues to show Dolby 5.1…

interesting more, using Apple TV app playing back to the future part 3, which shows atmos support, Dolby vision logo pops-up when video starts but the atmos logo does not.

Does the Sonos app show “Dolby Digital Plus 5.1” or “Dolby Digital 5.1”?

Is eARC enabled in your TV settings?

Do you have the latest firmware installed on your TV?

All the latest firmware also installed

What is HDMI Mode set to on the TV? What options are available?

This seems to be the extent of the hdmi options and modes unless I missed something

Try both the Auto and HDMI 2.1 options with Digital Audio Out set to Auto and see if there is any difference.

Same result.  Worth mentioning if the Xbox isn’t on, it doesn’t let me adjust the hdmi mode.

Man, I’m stumped. All of your settings look correct. The only other thing I would try is disconnecting everything from your TV and unplugging your TV and Beam from power for a couple of minutes. Then redo the TV Setup process in the Sonos app. Don’t connect the Beam to the TV until the app instructs you to and wait until after the TV Setup process is complete to connect the Xbox.

I appreciate all your help.  The software on this tv is super glitchy plus rtings.com reported a similar issue as the other person said.  I’m returning tomorrow for a Hisense U8G.  Seems to have consistently better reviews.  If that fails me it goes back and I splurge for a higher end Sony.
