I’ve got an Arc with 2 Play1s as surrounds in our living room. 
 

I’m wondering if I can add a single Play3 into the setup at the back of the room?

You can only add two surround speakers to a Sonos home theater setup. You could group the Play:3 to the Arc setup, but you will likely experience a slight audio delay from the Play:3 when playing TV audio. Streaming music will be in sync though.

You could also switch the surrounds to Full Mode for music playback that might get you the level of sound in the back that you are looking for.

That won’t impact sound sourced from the TV, even if it is just music.
