Same for me. Just set up Ultra, no Dolby Atmos in any movie. Inexcusable, especially with all of their recent problems. This launch had to be perfect. Going to try suggestions here and if it doesn’t work tonight, it’s going back tomorrow.
This thread is about streaming Dolby Atmos music with Apple Music, not movies.
You would be better to start a new thread explaining your tv setup and movie source.
I’m sorry, I thought it was about Dolby Atmos not working on the new Arc Ultra. Does it matter what the source is? Obviously the problem is the Arc Ultra and it’s ability to decode Dolby Atmos properly.
As, apparently, many people are discovering, they just purchased a $1000 Dolby Atmos sound bar that doesn’t do Dolby Atmos.
Music streaming is different to tv audio, although the thread title is ambiguous.
Of course it matters what the source is and how your equipment is connected together, but you provide no details for any troubleshooting.

Three things you need to check before definitively stating “Obviously the problem is the Arc Ultra and it’s ability to decode Dolby Atmos properly.”
- Are you sure you are using a Dolby Atmos source? Note: YouTube sources, even when marked as Atmos or DD are almost always downgraded to stereo PCM when posted.
- Are your TV and/or streaming devices you use Atmos capable?
- Are your TV and/or streaming device set to correctly pass Atmos?
You see, it’s not as simple to just blame the soundbar, especially when the vast majority of users have been able to get Atmos. So why don’t we dial it back a few and get a detailed description of what your system is like before making a blanket indictment.

Yes, yes, and yes. I moved from an Arc to an Arc Ultra and the Arc worked flawlessly for four years.

I realize that my original post was lacking detailed information. It was meant as “I am having this problem too”. I am not looking for help or solutions, I am just very frustrated with Sonos in general. Given the year they’ve just had, I expected the Arc Ultra to be fully vetted before being introduced. Apparently that’s not the case. And not just because of the problems I am having, several people are reporting similar issues (the purpose of this thread). I did try the suggestions posted here, as well as many others that I have researched and found from people having the same problem. I am not a novice or noob, as some people like to assume (given the tone around here), just because I am having a problem. I can fairly assume that I have a defective product at this point. I will try their support line before returning, but being a first run of a brand new product, it happens.
Then I leave you to your assumptions. Good luck.
Until yesterday I enjoyed listening music in dolby atmos by streaming Apple Music via the Sonos app to my era 300 stereo pair. Today my arc ultra and sub 4 arrived; I created one system with the era 300 pair as surrounds. Strangely enough The dolby atmos badge no longer appears when I stream music from Apple Music via the Sonos app.
The spatial music flag is enabled, so I don’t understand why Dolby atmos isn’t working anymore. Any suggestions?
thanks!
If you’re familiar with how Atmos sounds with a favorite track can you play it and definitively say that’s not Atmos? I’m wondering if the flaw is the reporting of the codec. Does it show any codec like maybe Lossless or something else?
@Scalptrash
This thread in detail was reporting about missing atmos from Apple Music. And as you can read above that was resolved for the users who reported about it before. If I haven’t missed something you were the only one talking about movies as source.
And exactly there, using the eARC source with input from tv and /or other external devices, the reason for missing atmos often are incorrect settings.
So I suggest you use any atmos audio file via Sonos music library, Amazon Music or Apple Music to check, if atmos on Arc Ultra is working at all.

Message received! I was done, but people still feel it necessary to correct me. So this thread posted in Home Theater is only about Dolby Atmos in music, not about Dolby Atmos not working properly on the new Arc Ultra. Got it.

I think, most (I also assume all) users over here don’t like to „correct“ you as their first intention, but try to „help“.
That sometimes results in misunderstanding each other, if someone as you said just comes to get rid of some frustration.

I see why you have so many replies. You must be a hoot at Mensa parties!

No problem… I also can just leave you alone. I‘m sorry for trying to help.
There is definitely a problem with Arc ultra. I have mine paired with sub 4 and era 300 in one room and another arc ultra with sub 4 and Sonos one SL. When playing music from Sonos app, the sound plays erratically across different channels. The center channel does not seem to be playing on the arc and the surrounds suddenly shoot up in Sound. Never had this problem with arc. When I airplay, does not detect atmos at all. Called Sonos support and their solution was to install a mesh router. How stupid. $3500 down the drain and on top sold my arc and sub 3 dirt cheap to upgrade.
Hope Sonos fixes this problem. I am really upset that they did not do basic testing before launching.
@Sri662
First time i‘m reading about such music mode channel issues. What source and content did you play? Was ist stereo or atmos content?
Btw… Atmos via Airplay in not possible on Sonos devices because of Apples AirPlay restrictions.
