For the best quality audio, keep the Change Format setting set to OFF on the Apple TV. With this setting, all 5.1 audio will play as Multichannel PCM and you will also be able to play Dolby Atmos audio.

But some users prefer the way standard Dolby Digital sounds compared to Multichannel PCM as Dolby Digital is louder and has less dynamic range than Multichannel PCM. So pick the setting that sounds best to you.

Make sure the TV is set to these settings:

HDMI Input Audio Format: Bitstream
