adding a Connect:Amp to power surrounds

I just got the arc and sub gen 3

And picked up a Connect:Amp gen 2 to power rear in ceiling surrounds.

In app set up calls for connecting both arc and amp to router via ether net wire.

Is this a permanent set up or temp for them to join together?

That's my ?

Thanks in advance.

Moderator edit: Corrected “Amp” to “Connect:Amp” as it’s an important difference for this question.

The wired connections need to be permanent.  The C:A lacks the 5GHz radio that Sonos uses to connect surrounds.  It was designed way before Sonos got into home theatre.

(The current Amp product has 5GHz capability and so can connect wirelessly to the Arc.)
