Hi Everyone,
This is giving me the s**ts and was wondering if someone can assist me. Even better if Sonos chimes in and tell me they are working on it!
My setup is Apple TV 4K → HD Fury Acana → Sonos Arc 5.1 (ARC + 2X Surrounds + Sub).
When I tell the ATV4K to keep the default format (which includes Atmos), when I watch a 5.1 show which isn’t Atmos, it plays at Multichannel PCM 5.1. This is to be expected, but what isn’t expected is that the volume of the PCM appears much softer and less punchy than if I were to tell the ATV4K to use Dolby Digital 5.1. The sound quality between the two is negligible, so I can’t say “...well MPCM is lower volume, so although I have to turn it up higher, at least the sound quality is much better”.
We are talking about very noticeable differences here. What is going on? I would actually expect the Multichannel PCM 5.1 to pull trumps here. This is super annoying because, with this issue, I have a tendency to have it overriding to DD 5.1 on the ATV4K, but when I want to go and watch an Atmos show, I have to go back into the settings and change it to the default setting.
Sonos: is this problem in hand with you??
Any help appreciated!
