What is Dolby Multichannel PCM 2.0?

I have Arc full home theater setup with an lg cx and apple tv 4k. Watching Paramount + on Apple TV vs LG. The picture is so much better through Apple TV but I get a really soft Stereo PCM setting. If I watch directly through the tv, the picture is not as sharp and I get that garbled mess of a description but it’s loud and sound pretty good but not quite Atmos and it feels like it’s not full. Not looking for a fix necessarily more just thoughts and opinions on why it is what it is.

I know this is an old thread, but there’s no answer.

Dolby Multichannel PM 2.0 is just stereo. But because it’s Dolby, it’s compressed so you get better audio at a given bitrate.

For example, BBC iPlayer uses Stereo PCM and BBC channels use either Dolby Multichannel PCM 2.0 or Dolby Digital 5.1. When using Dolby Multichannel PCM 2.0, the audio is compressed and sounds better then iPlayer’s Stereo PCM which is not compressed and has less of a bitrate.

Are you watching a stereo source on Paramount+? When watching a stereo source, what audio format is displayed on the Now Playing screen on the Sonos app when using the app on the Apple TV? What does is say when using the TV’s native app?
