I am experiencing sync issues with Sonos 5 using Airplay to sync with Apple iMAC that has HDHomeRun device attached for TV access. Any suggestions as to how to stop sync issues?

Not off hand, no. Sonos doesn’t really make a speaker designed for low latency computer lipsync. The closest you might be able to come is one of their Home Theater devices, connected via an optical output. See the thread here.
Sonos doesn’t have any control over the AirPlay 2 signal, so will play it as quickly as it receives it. You may want to ask on some Apple Forums how to speed up that signal.
