I purchased the beam yesterday. Connected to my sony kd-65xe8596...
When watching tv, the connection alternates between tv and beam. So the sound cuts out every 2 seconds.
It shows audio system active(beam) 2 seconds later tv speaker active.
Its connected via hdmi arc.
Please can you help fix this issue.

Ive manged to get it working... however all other hdmi cables to the tv have to be disconnected. Which defeats the purpose as i have tivo connected via hdmi. Please can you help and advise.

I have a Sony TV as well, a different model though. On the tv's settings, you could try switching off the speakers (for the TV). I did that based on some other recommendations. My Beam displays the message "switching to external speakers" only when I first turn on the unit, then it has worked fine.
It works fine, so long as there arent anyother hdmi cables plugged in. If i have tivo or dvd plugged in , sound cuts out every couple of seconds
