HDMI 1.4 is compatible with HDMI ARC so it will work with the Beam.
Many thanks GuitarSuperstar, that’s good to know.
If this is a new TV then I recommend passing on it. A new TV should not be HDMI 1.4, it should be at least 2.0 in 2021. This gives a much longer future-proof period than 1.4. HDMI 2.1 is best of course.
Many thanks Contralav, that was my concern also, though I’m no expert.
looks like I’ll have to wait for the new Sony W800 to hit the ships and pay through the nose for a tv that’s not full HD.

Curious: what TV are you considering that only does 1.4?
Hi, it’s an LG 32” (the largest we can fit in the available space.
The model is https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-32lm6370pla
Thanks. Wow, that’s a lot of money for a small 1080p TV too. At least by US standards. Sample 32” TV on Costco: https://www.costco.com/vizio-32%22-class---d-series---1080p-led-lcd-tv.product.100514303.html
I had that TV, well the US version and I was very unhappy with the picture quality. Switched to a KDL-32EX600 Sony and I’m much happier.
