Hi,

I want to have this below setup

Sonos ARC as a center speaker

sonos amp connected to Right and Left speaker

Sonos Sub

Sonos Symphony photo frames as left and right surround speaker

The only possible solution suggested as of now is have Sonos Arc connected with Sonos sub and Sonos Symphony photo frames as left and right surround speaker as a home theater setup and when the TV start , I can group Sonos AMP with left and right speakers.

but what I am looking is to have all these connected through wired connection like Sonos Arc and AMP connected through wire as a whole system and not wirelessly two different group.

I have tried HDMI extractor device but did not work. No sound coming out of either ARC or AMP so that’s option is no go.

Any advise/ suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks ,

You cannot add front speakers to a Sonos Arc home theater setup. The Arc alone already acts as the center, front left, and front right channels. You can only add a pair of surround speakers and up to two Subs (one must be a Gen 3) for a maximum 5.2.2 setup.

Thanks for the confirming that there is no other workaround. I wish Sonos would have some kind of software update that allow Sonos AMP and Sonos ARC to work within one coherent complete home theater system rather than grouping. This would have been killer for home theater setup as I was so excited to use KEF LS50 for left and right and Sonos Arc as a center channel but oh well. Thanks for the reply.

I hear you, this woukd be my favourite solution Sonos could implement one day. It’s often requested, but usually to add a pair of Fives on the side as LF and RF. There have been rumours in the past that Sonos was working on having Beam or Arc set up as center only. If it woukd ever happen, I would only hope that you can then add Amp as FL+FR and not just single Sonos speakers.

If you want more speakers, Sonos just isn’t for you. To me the Sonos soundbar, Sub and surrounds already is “one coherent complete home theater system”. Have you tried the standard Sonos set up? Was it lacking anything?

The intention is not to have more speakers but to have a better improved home theater system. Yes, I have this setup of Sonos ARC with subwoofer and 2 left and right surrounds from almost 8 months now and it’s overall good but my biggest complaints in the center channel means the dialogues are not clear and audible. And during watching movies, I am always increasing and decreasing volumes .. constantly adjusting. And I guess this setup is perfect is in its own way , but I am coming from a dedicated 11.2 home theater setup in my basement and I know this Sonos setup is fine but I wish with having dedicated Sonos AMP could have allow little bit more DIY solution for the home theater setup. That’s all.

I want to be able to add dedicated FL+FR to my set-up, but still consider Sonos ‘to be for me’. I actually have 17 Sonos devices up and running in my house and think the eco system is amazing. Sure, Arc+sub+ones is a coherent complete HT system. I have that set up and it sounds amazing for movies, and quite good for music also. Also, Amp+sub+ones works really good for movies. I have that set up in another room. It’s just that my Amp set-up is so much better for plain old music. I have really fine speakers to go with the amp (B&W 705s2) and it is fantastic. The ghost center on Amp does a real good job in creating a center, so that it works as HT as well. However, with Atmos being thrown in the mix, I start noticing that Arc can now also do things better than my Amp set up. It would just be great to have that all combined in my main listening area (which currently has the Amp set up). We still can have wishes right 😀

Of course. But since Sonos soundbars are already FL-Center-FR, Sonos would need to build a dedicated center speaker. I would be surprised if this would be happening soon. I feel Sonos’ niche is less speakers (and wires of course), not more.
