I have a home theatre set up of beam 2 play ones and a sub. How do I remove the beam and replace it with the arc

Open the controller, go to settings, then system. Select the room name for your Beam. Choose remove surrounds, and follow the instructions. Go back to the same place and select remove sub, and follow that process. Go back to settings, system, and use the add a product function to add your Arc. You can, during that process, add the other speakers, or add them at a later point in time.

To add to what Bruce is saying, don’t unplug your Beam until you have removed the surrounds and sub.  You probably want to rename your Beam room as well, so you can use the name for the new Arc.

Exactly the information I needed, just about to upgrade my playbar to the arc. Thanks for the question Malcdenis and the answers Airgetlam and Melvimbe..

Do we need to remove the Beam as well before setting up the Arc?

Thanks!

Joe

Just rename it to a different room name, as melvimbe already said.

Thank you, Bruce!

I actually want to completely remove the Beam from my system so that I can give it to my mother-in-law.  I’ll just reset it to its factory settings, and hopefully that removed the Beam from my setup.

Joe

You’re most welcome.

Again, be sure to remove the surrounds and sub before you factory reset the Beam. Once you factory reset it, it will no longer show up in your controller, but it will show up on the Sonos website as being ‘your’ device until such point as your mother-in-law sets it up on her own account (or, maybe you set it up for her 😉 )

It is the registering of the device to another account that removes it from your Sonos ‘records’, and not just factory resetting. That’s one of the reasons you’ll see recommendations from people that when someone sells a device, factory resetting it so the next person has to register it to their own account is so prevalent.

Again, Thank you, Bruce!  This is very helpful!

Warm regards,

Joe

Thanks for the question...received my ARC today and moving the Beam to the office.

Question on physically replacing it. I have stone on the wall around my bar, and the wires go behind it. Is the power cable the same? I want to minimize as much as possible to just plug and play the arc?

@martinjp Yes, the power cable for the Arc is the same as the Beam.
