We bought a Playbar and surround system setup about a year ago. It’s been working fine except every month or two it stops working for the cable tv. If I switch to Netflix, the sound is fine. I’ve tried resetting everything: tv, cable box, router, Playbar, and nothing works.
So, does the sound from the cable box come back at some point? Have you checked to see what audio settings are on the cable box? I'm thinking it might be the occasional DTS signal being passed via HDMI, which your TV can't send across optical. Not slamming the TV, there's just too much data in DTS to be carried across optical.



The next time it happens, I'd submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes, and call in to Sonos to discuss it.
