I have a Playbar as my audio device for my Pioneer plasma monitor. The Roku Ultra drives the audio (to Playbar) and video (to Pioneer plasma) to both devices. I’ve had this setup since 2016. I’d like to add Sub Gen 3. I do have the S2 app setup, but when I watch TV (streaming various apps from the Roku), I don’t ever touch the S2 app.
Are there any issues using the Playbar with the Sub Gen 3 in this configuration?

There won’t be any issues adding a Sub Gen 3 to your setup.
The Sub would be bonded wirelessly to the Playbar and would adjust in line with Playbar volume.
The only time you would have to access the S2 app would be if you wanted to adjust the sub level further which has to be through the app.
