Optimal listening: Arc smartly detects when it is attached to the mount

Hi. Looking for an answer to this Q: On the Sonos site in the ARC Mount “Optimal listening” details it states “Arc smartly detects when it is attached to the mount and automatically adjusts the EQ to temper bass resonance from the wall.”

What happens when you mount the ARC’s wall bracket to center channel mounting brackets attached to a FPTV on an articulating arm? (Thus the ARC and TV can move in/out, pivot L/R, and “float” above and away from boundary surfaces). I have 2 such installation projects happening in short order.

Can this “automatic detection” be overridden by the user in Sonos GUI? If not currently, someone at Sonos, please consider this option. If not switchable/controllable, how will I be able to dial in the sound?

TIA for a response.

Hi @JP Kelly, thank you for reaching out to the Sonos community.  I appreciate you for bringing this concern, let me help you out on this.

Arc was designed to use a tabletop orientation by sitting on a surface, or to be wall-mounted below your TV. If you plan on using Arc in an entertainment center, we do recommend at least 5.5 inches to be clear above Arc so the up-firing speakers have enough room to create crisp, vertical channels.

Arc smartly detects when it is attached to the mount and automatically adjusts the EQ to temper bass resonance from the wall. You can adjust the bass, treble, balance, or loudness of your Sonos speakers can be done in a few simple steps using the Sonos app depending on your preferred sound.

We can wait for suggestions and feedback from our Sonos community members, they might provide a suggestion about this. You may also contact our Sales specialist for more information.
