Optical audio cable connection

I have a Samsung HD tv. Model # UN55D6005SF. My tv does not have the "D" shaped audio output port, only the mini single male optical cable port. I tried a toslink to mini optical cable to connect my tv to my playbar, but it did NOT work. I routed through the cable box, but now that limits me to what I'm watching on cable. Any suggestions on how to get a connection b/t my tv and playbar directly?

i don't think your tv has a 'mini optical port', i think that's a regular 3.5mm audio out. you would need an analog to digital adapter, something like this..
