So I have a TCL 55E5900US and everything works - except - the remote for the TV will not control the volume on the Beam. When I try and train the remote through the Sonos app it does not even recognize i have a remote. Now having spoken at length to Sonos and TCL and read countless blogs/complaints it is clear this is a significant software issue - who's exactly i am not sure but i would like a clear answer please Sonos. And before you suggest obvious potential issues i confirm the following:

Alexa works though the Beam and "she" adjusts the volume of the TV and turns TV on or off

T-Link (CEC on the TCL) is on and shows the Sonos Beam in its on screen settings

The only options there though are amp on or off - clearly i have amp on

Sound is coming through teh Beam - Music plays through the Beam - i just cannot use the TV remote to control volume

The TV remote has new batteries

I have turned everything on and off again, unplugged re-plugged etc

The TV says its software is up to date

When going into Sonos app to add the remote (which i shouldn't have to do as the T-Link says the Sonos Beam is connected) - There is just no recognition - I could be an inch away form the Beam! and all I get is the message on my TV that my speakers are disconnected and to go into settings to connect. This is the TV speakers which are turned off as if they are not then i would be playing through them and not the Sonos Beam

So all up - very frustrating. Because i have to get up from the lounge and turn Beam down manually - or use the app if my phone is handy or scream at Alexa - goes down well when the wife is in bed! All I want is the remote that I use to turn my TV on and off, change channel and mute to also adjust volume.

I keep getting emailed the same questions from Sonos Tech Support - There is clearly a compatibility issue that no one seems to own - is it TCL or is it Sonos and when can i expect a fix
Hi GT1964,

What is the model number of the remote? The Beam can only accept IR commands, so if the remote is a RF remote it won't be able to communicate with the Beam.
Its the original remote - same model as TV - and its IR not RF

I've done some research and can't find specifications for that remote. Does it have any numbers on it that might help me identify it?
Yes - its the original - code on back is RC311 FUI2 - see attached pics
What a waste of money, time and effort. That will teach me to go out any buy something new before its properly tested. Think ill shift to Bose.
Hi there, GT1964. Thanks for the photo. From your previous discussion, it seems that the IR command is not getting to the Beam. Since the Beam works with all other methods of control, it tells us that the link between the remote signal and the beam is where we should be focusing. That said, if you are looking for a more real-time form of troubleshooting, I would recommend http://. We'd be happy to take a closer look at what is going on.
I think Keith meant this as a link: contact Sonos
