I have by Beam connected to an LG CX via eARC HDMI, and while the audio is controlled via the TV remote, there is no numerical value for the sound level.

It makes gauging the volume very difficult for some member of our family.

Why do Sonos think this is a viable operation?

Before getting our LG CX, we had our Arc connected to a Vizio P65. The P65 had a numeric display for the sound bar. The CX does not. I believe that’s LG’s issue, not Sonos’.

With the Sonos disconnected, the LG CX has a volume control with numerical values.

And when the LG isconnected to a different Bluetooth external speaker, there is still a numerical volume control.

That suggests the issue is with the Sonos.

Unfortunately, it is indeed LG’s issue. HDMI CEC does not provide, to my knowledge, the ability to send back volume information to the TV, and require the TV to display a numeric indicator.

The test case would be to add a different ARC speaker, which also uses HDMI CEC. Using Bluetooth is a completely different use case, exercising a completely different set of electronics in the TV set.

There is no similarity between the electronics in the TV set for Bluetooth and ARC.

So a Bluetooth connection would fix the issue?

I with I have known this in advance, as I would not have purchased the Sonos...

So far, really not impressed with it :slight_frown:

I agree it is disappointing that you can’t turn it up to eleven, but I’ve found my ears do a pretty decent job of telling me when it’s loud enough.

As I said, for members of our family it is an genuine issue.
