Hi there team. Have searched but hard to find out the exact answer.

I am 90% finished on a new home build. I have prewired speaker cable to in ceiling sonos speakers (2x in tv room & 2 in dining room) back to one amp.

I have an Arc sound bar in tv room.

I want to be able to play the audio from the tv throughout the whole house and also play music from the sonos s2 app when the tv is not powered on.

Assuming this is possible if they’re all grouped together? Also when playing music through the app, will music play through the sound bar too or only through the in ceiling speakers.

Sorry if this is a little vague. Cheers

You can play music and TV audio through the four speakers connected to the Amp and the Arc at the same time when they are grouped together in the Sonos app.

NOTE: You might experience a slight audio delay when playing TV audio through the in-ceiling speakers, but streaming music from the Sonos app will be in sync.

Are the two in-ceiling speakers in the TV room positioned to possibly act as rear surround speakers for the Arc?

Yes they are, in perfect position for rear left and rights. Assuming I cannot link them as surrounds and then change to play audio through the whole house without re grouping them etc? Any other ideas are welcomed!

If you want to use the two in-ceiling speakers as rear surrounds for the Arc, you would need to get a second Amp to connect your dining room speakers as a separate zone. One Amp acts as a single zone meaning all speakers connected to the Amp will play the same audio at the same volume. You don’t want the dining room to be in the same zone as the Arc/surrounds.

With this two-Amp setup, you will still be able to play TV audio through all of your speakers (with a slight delay in the dining room) and stream music through all of your speakers in perfect sync.
