Samsung TV (2019 series8) connected to Sonos ARC via HDMI arc.  The Netflix native app on TV shows ATMOS tag but it’s only Dolby digital plus 5.1 on Sonos app.  When using Prime (again native app on TV) shows Atmos on Sonos app.

What am I missing?

Changed HDMI cable.

Tried already reinstall Netflix app on TV, logout/ login in, used friends account etc no change.

Reinstalled, updated Sonos app from Apple store to latest version.  Removed and added arc, again no change. It’s still shows ATMOS on Netflix app on TV and 5.1 on Sonos app. It’s really frustrating, can someone help? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Make sure you have a premium Netflix subscription, and log in to your Netflix account on a web browser and set the Playback Settings under your Profile to HIGH. Also be sure you are using the English language track or original language track. I also recommend that you keep using the Sonos-supplied HDMI cable.

You are missing an eARC TV.

ARC can’t do Atmos unless the TV supports DTS, and that Samsung does not.

This isn’t correct. @nsugumar can get Dolby Atmos from Prime Video. He is just having issues getting Atmos on Netflix.

A NETFLIX Premium subscription is required for Atmos.

I missed that, but HOW then? I have two of these DTS-less Samsungs and can’t get Atmos over ARC on either.

@controlav Whether or not a TV supports Dolby Atmos pass through or Dolby Atmos on certain apps is not dependent on whether or not the TV supports DTS. Streaming apps carry Dolby Atmos data using the Dolby Digital Plus codec, not DTS.

Dolby Atmos support has more to do with many other factors like how old the TV is, the TV brand, what app you are using, and if the TV is equipped with HDMI ARC or eARC. Your Samsung TVs are probably just older models.

Dang it got my codecs crossed, yes, of course, DD+ not DTS, my bad.

Still cursing both my Samsungs for refusing to give me Atmos-over-DD+ (newest is 2018).
