Considering a pair of ERA 300’s for rear speakers surround speakers to replace 2x Sonos Ones in this open space room, the ceiling is vaulted from from to back too.  Also, have ARC, and dual subs already.  Anyone with experience in this kind of setup?  Thanks!

Are you going to use just one 300 or would this be a stereo pair?  Since we are looking at the seated position and not the front of the room are you planning to use a pair as surrounds?

Looking to replace pair of Sonos Ones with put a pair of ERA 300’s as surrounds, already have ARC + dual subs.

Sorry… Didn’t see your post text as I was focused on the photo of the room.  Hence the stupid questions about usage.

The ideal location would be some distance behind the couch on stands that put the 300s at ear height.  Since the front firing driver is disabled when the 300s are bonded as surrounds I would face them directly at your head.  Of course in a multi-purpose room like yours that ideal positioning is probably not practical.

No matter where you put the 300s they perform best when they have room to breathe.  That makes positioning difficult.  I’m fortunate to have a spouse that tolerates my 300s on stands behind the listening position.

The vaulted ceiling and asymmetric room layout will have an effect on the height and side reflected sound, but TruePlay should compensate for that to some degree.

Thanks, This is the footprint area behind the couch I have to work with, they would have to go there, otherwise any further back, they get in the walk-way path.  Thoughts?

Can they be moved out more toward the edge of the couch?  At least the sweet spot in the center of the couch would get a reasonable surround field.  Anyone on the left or right side of the couch would be compromised.

The 300s would definitely be better for that positioning as the front driver is not active.  I think the 300s would sound best aimed right at the sweet spot as well.  Otherwise you would get direct sound from the side firing speakers in the 300s.

I would have turned the Ones away from the couch to avoid direct sound from them.  I would turn them out at increasing angles until they sounded best.
