Have an epson 2150 hooked to a sonos 5. The sound comes through and also can be grouped with other sonos speakers. The sound however is several seconds behind the video (very annoying for watching movies). When the sound comes through the projector it is synced.



Is there a setting in either the Epson, sonos or perhaps both that adjust this audio lag?

That's the nature of the analog input, not just on the PLAY:5 (there is no Sonos 5), but the CONNECT, and the discontinued CONNECT:AMP, as well as the Sonos Amp. All analog inputs delay around 70ms at a minimum, in order to both change the analog to digital, and to buffer it so it can be played in sync across all Sonos speakers on the system.



The only way to get around this "feature" is to purchase one of the devices that Sonos makes that are designed to be connected for video, a Beam, PLAYBASE, or PLAYBAR, all of which have a digital input which doesn't pay this penalty. That is, until you try to "group" other rooms, then the sound for the other rooms will have that delay, while the sound bar won't.



Unfortunately, the PLAY:5 just isn't designed to be a TV speaker.
One thing you may want to try is adjusting the sensitivity on your line in, as I recall, different settings on the line in increase/decrease the delay, as well as the "compression" setting. You may be able to get it lower than several seconds.
I don't do this but seem to recall something about less delay if not paired or grouped.
No, once the signal is processed by the line in for being in the Sonos ecosystem, then it wouldn't be affected further, since it would already be in a state to be broadcast across multiple speakers.
