Hi all,

So been looking for a 4K blu ray player that will convert dts to DD and I was looking at the manual for this Panasonic player and on page 31 it says you can set DTS to PCM.

So does this mean the Beam will be able to interpret and play in converted 5.1?

No, I don’t think so, because Sonos doesn’t do 5.1 PCM. You’ll probably get stereo, but that’s it. The Xbox can do it and somewhere in this forum there’s talk of a Sony that seemed to be doing it.

Beam which depends on HDMI ARC, can’t do PCM 5.1, so won’t work. Presently, it won’t work on the Arc either (which uses eARC and can support pcm 5.1), since Sonos has chosen not to support it. If you want to use Sonos with blu-ray players, you have to pick one of the specific few players that can output dts as dd, some examples of which are listed above (note that it’s not all Sony players, far from it).
