I know this has been raised as a HDMI ARC problem but no, the issue is design. I want to occasionally listen to my tv via AirPods but Beam requires me to ‘physically unplug’ HDMI. Very 2011. Software update this please - keep internet, keep power, keep Alexa etc but toggle input off. If not give us a simple on off button.
Hi
Please, feel free to let me know if you require any further information.
I would love to have this feature.
No need to unplug the Sonos device from the TV’s HDMI-ARC port - simply switch off HDMI-CEC in the TV settings to use headphones ...or other connections like Bluetooth etc. (if available on the TV).
@Ken_Griffiths Toggling on/off hdmi-cec is actually harder than just unplugging the hdmi cable, and I don’t want to turn it off permanently because I use it quite a lot for controlling various hdmi devices.
Could you add a switch so you could pick the TV or the empty port for the input?
Many TV’s output to the optical port too at the same time so it’s also possible to cable a Bluetooth transmitter to that port and use that in some instances.
I also think the TV manufacturers are better positioned to perhaps resolve this issue, rather than have each Receiver/Soundbar manufacturer fix it their end,
This normal HDMI-CEC behaviour. I'm not sure CEC-protocols leave room to implement this. If so, I would look to the TV manufacturer. There has to be a setting to not choose a soundbar to channel the sound to.

Ken - thank you, this works. I had searched a lot for this answer so well done in providing the answer - hopefully others will find it as well. Not to say an off-on button isnt still of value…. Its a bit of a pain to scroll through and disconnect HDMI CEC and then attach bluetooth, but it does work - I can live with it. Now to get LG to allow me to set an app as a default start up…..
