Controlling Sonos Playbar volume via Samsung QLED Neo smart remote

I have just bought a new Samsung TV and it connects and works ok with my Sonos Playbar, connected via an optical cable. The TV smart remote will not however control the volume on the Sonos Playbar. I think that the only way for this to work is via the HDMI/ARC connection. The Playbar however doesn’t have an HDMI connector. Can anyone suggest any way of solving this, (other than upgrading to a Sony ARC!)?

Is there an Optical to HDMI adapter out there that might work to solve this?

An HDMI to optical adapter wouldn't work - commands aren't sent via optical. The TV (or the Samsung Connect box) can be configured however, to send out ir signals: https://support.sonos.com/article/use-a-samsung-one-remote-with-sonos-home-theater-speakers
