Hello, is to possible to connect Samsung Smart TV (comaptible with Aiplay 2) to Symfonisk speaker straight away or do I need another device for the set up?

Thank you

An airplay compatible device can send out airplay audio, receive airplay audio, or possibly both.  To my knowledge, only Apple devices can send out airplay audio, so I would check to make sure your TV can send out audio...which I doubt.  Most likely, it can only receive, same as the ikea speakers.

If I am not mistaken, the smart TV in question is an AirPlay 2 receiving device, and does not generate an AirPlay 2 signal that you could send to the speakers.

To my (limited) knowledge, the only devices that can send an AirPlay 2 signal are Apple products.

So, you might be able to have an Apple TV send the audio through AirPlay 2 to the speakers, but then you’d have to use the HDMI cable to connect to the TV, because AirPlay 2 does not support sending video to one device and audio to others.

And I’ve never tried this, but there may be a slight delay due to processing between the audio and video….or not.

Your best bet, in the Sonos world, is to get either a Beam, or an Arc to connect to your TV. Both of those soundbars are designed for TV use.

Thanks for help!

Guys, how about the new Sonos Roam? Would that be a solution?

Hi @Vaclav Laga

Unfortunately if your TV is not capable of transmitting an AirPlay 2 or Bluetooth signal to the Move, then it won’t be able to transmit to the Roam.

As suggested by @Airgetlam, an AppleTV connected to the TV via HDMI should allow you to send the audio to any AirPlay 2 capable speakers, however I don’t think I’ve seen or heard of any non-Apple Airplay transmitters, only devices capable of receiving an AirPlay stream.

I was thinking about the Bluetooth option since the TV is capable to transmit Bluetooth signal.

Got it @Vaclav Laga - while this should work, and there are customers who have achieved this with their Move, not all TVs transmit via Bluetooth in the same way so it’s possible there may be some challenges.

It may be worth doing a search for your specific model of TV and “bluetooth", as other members of the community may have had success with using a Move in the same way :)
