Hi! I’m a music teacher with a Smart Board with wimpy speakers. Can I connect to my Beam with S/PDIF? 3.5mm? HDMI OUT (I don’t know if this port is ARC.). Thoughts or experience?

SPDIF, yes (use the adapter). HDMI-ARC, yes. HDMI (no ARC), no.

Once caveat on the optical SPDIF aspect...you need to be sure this device is outputting an appropriate signal. Either Stereo or Dolby Digital. Pretty much most everything else will not work.
I’m not familiar with “Smart Board” so it’s hard to know if that’s even an issue or not.
