Beam is signalling via HDMI-CEC and grabbing back the audio.
Suggestion: get one of
these and connect it to the TV's optical out (the latter configured for PCM, not DD). Not only will it not fight the Beam, but you'll also get lip-sync (and better quality) over aptX-LL when using compatible headphones/receiver.

As stated that is a function of HDMI CEC, it would not be isolated to the beam.
