I recently replaced my phone and had to reinstall the sonos app. That's where everything went wrong. For unknown reasons my Beam was no longer set up on my network, could have happened any time to be fair as I can't remember using the app this year. No problem though, I can follow the setup. Done it plenty of times before.

Unfortunately I just couldn't get it to connect to wifi. Tried the usual things but after a few days I decided to just use a wired connection to prove i was not loosing my mind.

So I tried setup again and I get a can't connect to "" error. Very odd. I can see the device has an ip on the network and I can connect via the Web to run ping etc so it's definitely on the network but the app just won't complete setup. I am out of ideas.

It is a few years old now but it works fantastic and I was considering a couple of additions like a sub but until I can get the setup complete I don't want to spend anything incase it's dead.

Any ideas?

Most advice i see says to use wired as a solution bit if that doesn't work either I am out of ideas.

Assuming that you have NOT factory Reset your Sonos Device. Can you follow the steps in this article:

https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/article/forget-a-system-from-the-sonos-app

Then close the App and when you reopen the App, choose connect to existing system.

Ahh, unfortunately I did factory reset. Seems there is mixed messaging on this site about it either being a cure all or the devil itself.

I tried all the help on offer before reaching out, seems that was mistake number 1.

Yes, unfortunately - it’s best not to factory reset your device unless advised to do so.   This is because Sonos stores all of the ‘System’ settings on each device and not in the App.  So if the Beam is your only device, then by factory resetting it you’ve deleted your System and will need to recreate it from scratch.

It's definitely not letting me recreate it. I get as far as connecting to the network and neither of my WiFi networks or Ethernet will connect.

Tried a bunch of times and no luck.

So can we count you in “the devil” group at this point? I’m firmly there myself.

So try these setup options.

Turn off one of your WiFi networks but make sure you have a 2.4 GHz signal available.

With one WiFi still off, power down all but one Sonos and wire it to your main router.

Factory reset the one Sonos, power it down. Reboot your router. Power up the Sonos and try again.

Delete your system data from the Controller app.

Thank you. You are very kind. And yes, Factory reset can get in the sea. I will try the above tomorrow when everyone is out of the house. Any disruption to the Internet might cause a small riot with the kids ;-)

Hi @Remoskrone

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of the issues you’ve had since replacing your phone. I can see your Beam is still offline, so I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately wired will not work either. I get this odd error.

Hi @Remoskrone

really recommend that you call in for assistance.
