@Shnakey & @Michael_2599,

What TV make/model are you each using with the Beam? I’m wondering if there is anything Sonos Staff may need to look at there too?

Sony X900H.

Ive contacted Sonos and the representitive on the phone asked me to find a source of audio where this would happen and interestingly enough she ran a diagonostic on her end and it was showing that the beam would be connecting and reconnecting to my tv even tho no audio would be cut. My case was raised to senior specialists and i’m waiting on any response. Not sure if this is only happening with sony line of Tv’s but im yet to see any other posts / mentions of this issue.

Any update from Sonos' end Michael?

I got an email back from the engineers asking for more info, if it was happening on in built apps and other inputs. I provided all the necessary information and they gave me an option to either send it to them for a replacement or to return back to the retailer I purchased it from. Unfortunately this is the end of my experience with the beam as I chose to return it back to the retailer. Once enough time passes and a few more updates come out and everything’s ironed out I’ll potentially come back to the beam as it did sound 10x better than the built in speakers and it looked attractive in my setup as well, but the issues I was facing was far too distracting for the price I paid for the bar. Hopefully you and anyone else experiencing this issue gets it resolved soon.

I wanted to bump this as I’m experiencing the same thing. The effect is similar to two sources being slightly out of phase and is particularly apparent with atmospheric sounds on Dolby Atmos audio which leads me to believe it’s related to processing. Any crowd or pub scene now sounds like a weird robot army is present - Ted Lasso is virtually unwatchable! I’d love to know if this is something Sonos is going to fix any time soon?

Maybe speak to Sonos Support about your issue - have you tried it with TruePlay ‘off’ aswell as ‘on’ and have you tried a different cable, or switched to the TV’s optical output just to see if anything helps to get to the root cause.
Others (myself included) have not encountered the issue, so maybe it’s related to the TV output, in which case it’s difficult to know if Sonos have anything to fix here.

I definitely would contact Sonos with a Diagnostic Report to explore the issue further. Perhaps even temporarily try another TV, if that option is  available to you.

Hi !

Same issue for me here. I had several mails with sonos support, but they are totally unable to help.
Happy to see that i’m not crazy. I tried everything (HDMI ARC, optical, another TV, factory reset, shaman ritual..)

But I guess all we have to do is to buy another hardware from another brand. It’s a shame to pay this price for this.

That's actually a really decent description of the issue. It's very hard to explain it unless you were to actually hear it. I watch a lot of live sport, and any crowd noise has this distortion to it. There hasn't been an update to the Beam in a while. Holding out hope there's an improvement in the next one.

I agree with @Anon90 , it seems that sources are out of phase, and I’m convinced that it’s a processing issue.

Just to let you know guys, I have an open case about this issue with SONOS support. I gave them the most precise description possible, high quality audio samples, and sent them the link of this topic.

They are investigating (I hope), and I’ll let you know as soon as I have any progress.

I'm also experiencing this issue with my Beam 2. Using it on a Sony X950H. It happens with environment noises or noises with heavy bass tones. Everything from games, TV shows, blu rays and streaming apps. Music is fine and seems to have no problem. It's extremely frustrating and no change in TV settings or Sonos app seems to fix it.

Yes, sadly nothing is gonna fix it except a firmware update.
I saw earlier in this topic that maybe the sony TV were the issue but no, I tried on 2 LG TV, and the issue is the same.

Do you know if the Arc has the same problem?

@Bel_sprout I have a friend who got the Arc and he doesn’t have this issue.
But I saw a forum (don’t remember where) where a guy with the arc seemed to have the same problem.

Hi guys,

I decided to buy another beam gen2, to try it.
Exact same issue. So I can easily guess that all the beam 2 are affected.

I sent a last mail to Sonos, and asking them to take this issue seriously.
This will be my last try with sonos.

I keep you informed !
