I’m just putting together a new home cinema set up - LG 65 OLED, Arc and my two old Sonos Ones as rear speakers (may add the sub later).

The placement of the TV above the (inactive) fireplace means it’s quite difficult to get the Arc the recommended 4” below the bottom of the tv. The Arc is also placed just above head height as the is mounted atop the fireplace at about 120cm.

Two questions really.. Is it really an issue if the gap between the Arc and TV is less than 4” and does it matter that the Arc is higher than sat down head height. Can i get away with both of these or is it going to cause an issue?

The 4” inch recommendation is so that the upfiring speakers are not blocked by the TV.  If the TV and  Arc are flush, then you definitely need it.  If the Arc sits in front of the TV then you don’t need it.  If the Arc is behind the TV, then you would need more than 4”.

As far as the height of the Arc measured from the floor, yes it does matter. The speakers should be pointed at you, an atmos speakers bouncing off the ceiling towards you, so your angles are off.  It’s is not the end of the world but it does matter.   A trick to help with this is to place a book or something underneath the Arc so it’s pointed downward slightly, improving the angles.  It’s not really any different than angling your TV downward for better viewing. Still not ideal, but an improvement.

Thanks Danny - the tv is flush to the wall and the Arc rear 2” as per recommended placement by Sonos so I’m guessing it will be ok.

Good tip on the angle - it’s only about 20cm above head height so I’ll get a couple of isolation feet at the back to slightly point it down.
