I’ve noticed in the last month or so - dialog seems to be very muffled on my Arc (paired with a Sony X900H). It seems to be consistent across sources. Very noticeable in Netflix with 5.1 audio - changing to Stereo mostly fixes it, but not perfect. Also notice it with Discovery+.
Hi
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
Have you tried using the Speech Enhancement option, as described in our Make dialogue easier to hear with Speech Enhancement help page?

- Open the Sonos app.
- In the System tab (Rooms tab if using the S1 Controller app), select your home theater speaker.
- Tap the Now Playing bar at the bottom to open the Now Playing screen.
- Tap the Speech Enhancement icon to toggle Speech Enhancement on or off.
Toggle Speech Enhancement using a Mac or PC
- Turn on your TV and make sure TV audio is playing through your Sonos home theater speaker.
- Open the Sonos app.
- In the Rooms pane, select your home theater speaker.
- In the Now Playing section, click the Speech Enhancement icon to toggle Speech Enhancement on or off.
Thanks! I tried speech enhancement and it makes no difference.
Hi
Then I recommend you turn on Night Sound - this compresses the difference between loud and quiet noises in the audio track, as described in our Reduce loud TV audio with Night Sound help page:
Toggle Night Sound on iOS or Android
- Turn on your TV and make sure TV audio is playing through your Sonos home theater speaker.
- Open the Sonos app.
- In the System tab (Rooms tab if using the S1 Controller app), select your home theater speaker.
- Tap the Now Playing bar at the bottom to open the Now Playing screen.
- Tap the Night Sound icon to toggle Night Sound on or off.
Toggle Night Sound using a Mac or PC
- Turn on your TV and make sure TV audio is playing through your Sonos home theater speaker.
- Open the Sonos app.
- In the Rooms pane, select your home theater speaker.
- In the Now Playing section, click the Night Sound icon to toggle Night Sound on or off.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, I also recommend you Tune your Sonos speakers with Trueplay. If this has already been done, please try turning it off.
Night sound doesn’t make any difference here either.
