Thanks Denny!
Just so I understand, why are the ceiling (or in-wall) speakers + Amp a poor choice for the Atmos setup besides the ability to experiment with the location?
Surround sound is suppossed to come form behind and to the side, as there is specific audio channels for these speakers that go along with whatever video your watching. For example, if there was an explosion behind charcaters on screen, and they look behind themselves, the audio should be behind you...not above you. This is even more so with atmos as the Arc bounces audio off the ceiling for sounds that are suppose to sound like they are coming from above you. You don’t want those extra atmos channels of audio blending in with the surround channels...because they are both coming from the same general location.
And to be clear, there isn’t an issue with in wall speakers, I just think it’s an unnecessary expense for surround that lacks flexiblity. I do have some in-wall speakers I don’t use really need to remove, but don’t because of the giant hole in the wall. Also, seems a little odd to me aesthetically to use a soundbar and in wall or in ceiling speakers.
Would you then mount them on the rear wall angled in towards the couch? Or on stands either side of couch?
Mounts are less flexible and doesn’t hide the power cords
Also anyone else have a situation where you weren’t able to locate the rear speakers behind the
listener and how did that work out?
I am happy with this setup in one of my rooms.
